Business Premium and Microsoft 365 E3 both give your staff the full Office apps, a 100 GB mailbox, Teams and serious security. The difference is scale, compliance and Windows. This guide explains what each plan includes after Microsoft's July 2026 changes, where E3 is worth the extra, and how companies in Dubai and across the UAE usually decide.

If your company has fewer than 300 users and no specific regulatory or audit requirement, Microsoft 365 Business Premium gives you almost everything E3 does for less money. Move to E3 when you pass 300 users, when you need Windows Enterprise features, or when your auditors, regulator or parent company ask for compliance tools that Business Premium does not have. Many companies run both: Business Premium for most staff and E3 for the users who need more.
The two plans overlap more than most people expect. Both include:
For a typical Dubai office, that covers email, collaboration, device management and the security controls insurers and clients ask about.
Business Premium was designed for small and mid-sized companies, and in some areas it is stronger for them than E3. Defender for Business includes automated investigation and response that works without a dedicated security team. Its price did not change in Microsoft's July 2026 update while E3 went up, and its mailbox doubled to 100 GB. For a company of 20 to 250 people, it is usually the best value plan in the Microsoft 365 range.

You do not have to move everyone at once. Microsoft lets you combine Business and Enterprise plans in the same tenant. A common setup for growing UAE companies is Business Premium for most staff, up to the 300-user cap, and E3 for users above the cap or for teams such as finance, legal and management who need the extra compliance and archiving. Plan the split before you reach 300 users, so a new starter is never left without a licence.

For most companies under 300 users, yes. It includes the desktop Office apps, a 100 GB mailbox, Intune device management, Entra ID P1 with Conditional Access and Defender for Business. Companies usually need E3 only when they pass 300 users or need Windows Enterprise and wider compliance tools.
Yes. Microsoft lets you run Business and Enterprise plans side by side. The 300-user cap applies only to the Business plans, so a growing company can keep up to 300 users on Business Premium and license anyone above that on E3.
Yes. From 1 July 2026 Business Premium kept its price and its mailbox grew to 100 GB. Microsoft 365 E3 went up in price and gained Defender for Office 365 Plan 1 and extra Intune features.
Microsoft now sells its Enterprise suites, including E3, to new subscribers with Teams licensed separately. Business Premium is still available with Teams included. We confirm the right Teams option when we quote.
For a tenant set up with the UAE as its country, core data such as mailboxes, OneDrive and SharePoint files is stored in Microsoft's UAE datacenter regions in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. We confirm the data location before setup.
